Washing your face

So, I don't know where or when I learned this, but I thought everyone should know this little factoid. You're supposed to wash your face with warm water, to open up your pores and clean them out. After you wash your face, rinse with cold water to close them up. Now you know(if you didn't already)! Enjoy!

Foundations

Until just a few moments ago, I had no idea what the difference between a liquid and a cream foundation was. I was curious, so I looked up online and came across this posting on the Sephora Beauty Talk site. This was so helpful, especially the primer part. I will definitely have to buy a primer the next time I'm out! I you didn't know either, I hope it helped!

Pony tails

So I was browsing Pinterest today (I think I'm addicted!) and I saw these different types of pony tails. I hate just putting my hair back in a regular old pony, so when I saw this, I just had to post it so others could see it too. These are so cute, I'll probably do every one of these!

5-minute Face

Hey! If you've come here to find a very elaborate, full on contouring, highlighting, and the whole deal, you're in the wrong place. I have never really been into doing all that - weddings and parties, maybe - for everyday wear. So when I saw this 5-minute makeup routine on Glamour, I thought it would be an easy way for me to change up my routine that still doesn't take a whole lot of time. I mean, come on, 5 minutes? Everybody (well almost everybody) has got a few short minutes to rock this super-easy way to look flawless! I hope you enjoy!

Dreadful Winter Skin Tips

So, it's getting to that time of year again...Winter! I know it's only the middle of September right now, but it'll be here before you know it, with the clear skies, brisk air, and gleaming newly fallen snow. But wait, there's also the dreadful dry skin, lips and hair that we all hate. I was looking for some tips on how to care for dry winter skin and I came upon this article, Top 7 skincare tips for winter, from The Times of India. I think these are some great tips, especially the lip balm. Enjoy!

Going Nude (your face!)

So I was surfing the inter-webs today, and I came across this blog post about The No-Makeup Challenge by the blog No More Dirty Looks. I thought it was very interesting, though not that surprising, that 70% of women wouldn't leave the house without their makeup tools. But then I thought, I never go anywhere without makeup on either! In this day and age, women and girls are so concerned about their appearance that going without "putting their face on" is a crime! Lately, I've been noticing some girls in my school that don't wear any makeup, and their face looks so clean and natural. Sometimes, I feel us girls are doing more harm to our bodies than good by using all these products. So, I propose we all try and step away from the eyeliners, bronzers, and blushes for a fresher look. I know it will be hard for some of us, including me, so believe in yourself! You all are beautiful in your own way :)

Sock Bun Tutorial

So, I know we've all had those days when you're running late, and you don't have enough time to do much of anything with your hair. Or you're having one of those days where your hair is just a lost cause. Well, stress no more! The sock bun has come to the rescue! But wait, what?? A sock in your hair? Yep! Socks now aren't only for keeping your little piggies warm.

What you'll need:

  • 1 tube sock, rolled into a donut shape
  • 2 hair bands
  • A few bobby pins
Start out with straight or wavy hair. My hair is moderately curly and I have found that this works best when hair is straight or wavy.

Then, put your hair in a ponytail. I like my bun to be at my crown, so I put my ponytail there, but you can wear it anywhere.

Now for the sock part. Take a regular tube sock and cut off the toe. Roll the sock to where it looks like a donut. Put your ponytail through the hole; slide the sock to the tip of your hair, making sure you leave enough at the end to wrap the tips under the sock.

Roll the sock with your hair wrapped around it down, until you reach your head.

It may look a little messy, so you can take another hair band and just put it over the bun. Secure any stray hairs with bobby pins that the base of your bun. You can also add a little accessory, like a ribbon to the base, a bow, or a cute little floral pin!

And voila! It takes a total of no more than two minutes to do; it's so easy! Say buh-bye to bad hair days and helll-o to the sock bun!

#1 Eye Shadow Rule

Hey!
So I know most of us have basic make-up rules that we live by; we always do it the same. Mine has to do with eye shadow. I learned this from my sister when I first started using make-up and I want to teach it to you! So here goes.

First, you take your eye shadow palette. I usually just use a 3-color palette with brown, a shimmery champagne color, and a gold for everyday wear. You can choose any colors, as long as there is a dark color, a very light or cream, and a medium tint.
You will take the darkest color first and apply it to the outer corner of your eyes, right underneath your brow bone. Then sweep just a little in your creases - don't make it too dark! Make sure you don't apply a lot at once; apply a little with more layers.
You will then take the medium shade and apply it to just your lids, stopping at the crease, right underneath your brow bone.
After that, take your lightest color and apply it right under your eyebrow, and in the innermost corners of your eyes. Blend the colors together for a more even look.

And there you have it! Like I said, I always use this technique; it's awesome!

Getting to know me

Hey y'all! I'm Elizabeth and this is my very first post! This is a school project and I figured, why not have fun with it? My blog is about beauty; that is make-up, clothes, hair, and everything in between. But don't forget, you all are beautiful, so I'll also be blogging about that too!
But let me tell you about myself. I love orange sherbet and I love cats. I am a Catholic and I love my family. My favorite color is purple and singing is one of my hobbies. I hope you like this blog as much as I do making this!

Bye for now :)
